Charles received a land grant on February 10, 1637, of 350 acres lying behind the Pagan Point Creek shore, adjoining the lands of Christopher Reynolds.

In the Land Office is the manifest of the records of the Commonwealth Grants from about 1626 to the present day. During the first century, fifty acres were granted to every immigrant. The names of these "head-rights" generally appear under the grants.

He was associated with the same Vintner Company of London as the Carters of Surry, Isle of Wight, and Lancaster and the illustrious Lee family.

He had children by at least two of his three wives.
